[HOWTO] Fix Windows Vista – The trust relationship between this workstation and the primary domain failed
Posted by Mr. IT Guy | Filed under IT in General, Microsoft, Operating System
For some unknown reason, one of my colleague gets this message everytime he’s trying to login:
“The trust relationship between this workstation and the primary domain failed”
Instead of deleting his profile and recreating it as proposed by most people, I just try to rejoin it to the domain. It works! Step by Step instruction is available after the jump.
I’m not very familiar with Vista’s layout, so it may be a little bit longer than what needs to be done.
- Click on the Start and right click on Computers
- Go to Advance System Settings (on the bottom left)
- Go to the Computer Name tab
- Click on Network ID
- Re-join to Domain (it will ask you if you want to use the profile for the same computer and say yes)
- Restart the computer
